Beccles and District Club President Lion Chris Lambert officially presented the Mayor of Beccles - Councillor Elfrede Brambley-Crawshaw with the two picnic benches at the play area on Beccles Common.

Lion President Chris said “It is an honour and pleasure to be able to provide these two picnic benches to the play area, especially as it is our 50th year as a Lions Club within Beccles. We realise the value of parents and children being able to have a picnic in such a lovely environment where children can play safely while their parents look on.”

The Mayor added “Many a time we have spent with our children at this play area and often thought how nice it would be to just sit and have a chat with other parents while watching the children have fun, now this is possible thanks to Beccles Lions Club with their donation of two picnic benches, for which I am truly thankful.”

The aim is to encourage families to use the play area more and hopefully by having the picnic benches families can use them to have a chat while the children play, as well as use them to provide snacks for the children when they ‘play’ up an appetite.
