Beccles Lions Club Presents Cheque to the East Anglian Air Ambulance
With the generous donations received from the collections at MorrisonsSupermarket and in Beccles Town Centre, members of the Beccles & District Lions Club were able to visit the base of the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service at Norwich Airport to present a “Thank you” cheque from the people of Beccles for £1,500.00.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance is “on call” 24 hours a day, seven days a week, this life saving service is a vital part of the local emergency services and it is entirely supported by voluntary donations.
Beccles Lions President Chris Lambert said “At one of our recent meetings East Anglian Air Ambulance Fundraiser, Jaqueline Greenfield gave a presentation to the members. Following the presentation it was decided that Beccles Lions should be added to the list of contributors in order to keep this wonderful service in the air”.
With a host of fund raising activities throughout the year, Beccles Lions Club members - as with all Lions Clubs worldwide, are dedicated to raising money to support local people and organisations who have a genuine need.
The reasons that people love Beccles, with its River, the surrounding accessible marshes along with the large Common are precisely the areas which brings the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service into its own. With no problem from traffic and the ability to quickly reach areas not accessible to by the normal ambulance service. Plus with a choice of hospitals available to them within minutes, the East Anglian Air Ambulance lifesaving ability is second-to-none.
Following their visit and tour around the East Anglian Air Ambulance facility, Beccles & District Lions Club members have decided to keep them on their fundraising agenda for the future.
